If a young person or poet came to you, what are some tips or advice you'd like to share?
Jeffrey D. J. Kallenberg
I would tell a young person first to be very prideful that he's a poet. I think over the years poetry has kinda gone to the bottom of the feeding chain and, you know, there's novelists and there's playwrights, and short story writers and magazine writers.
Poetry is really the oldest form of writing, and what's wonderful about poetry is that it's the essence of language. You can say what it takes someone else a book to write and you can do it in five pages. And I think you should take great pride in it and I think it's a great way to express yourself.
